The Best Natural Cold & Flu Remedy

My top priority in the fall and winter months is keeping myself and my family healthy. We take our probiotics, diffuse immune boosting essential oils, eat healthy, among many other things which you can read about here.

But whenever someone in my house does happen to get sick I make them the flu bomb. It is the most effective all natural cold and flu remedy I’ve ever tried. If you or someone in your home is sick you need to try it!

Last winter my whole family came down with the worst flu of all time. My kids were sick for weeks. Once I caught it I thought I would be sick for at least a month.

I have an autoimmune disease called Hashimotos. And because my immune system has been compromised I get sick really easily and I stay sick for a loooong time.

This was a few days before Christmas and I was desperate not to be sick on Christmas day so I started researching how to cure the flu fast! I came across many different natural flu remedies which I combined to make a drink which we call the flu bomb.

I drank the flu bomb 3-4 times a day for the first two days that I was sick and by the third day I was feeling great. And my skin was clearer and brighter than it had been in years which is a really awesome side effect of drinking the flu bomb!

What is the flu bomb?

The flu bomb is an all natural tea like drink made up of antiviral, antimicrobial, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients.

Too be honest, it doesn’t taste great.

When I first put this together I was nervous to actually drink it. But like I said, I was desperate so I drank it up and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.

And now whenever I get sick my body actually begins to crave it. The ingredients and their medicinal properties are listed below.

The Flu Bomb Ingredients

Many of the ingredients you may already have on hand. You don’t necessarily have to use every ingredient on the list. But from my personal experience the more ingredients you use the more powerful the flu bomb will be.

1 | Echinacea Tea

Echinacea has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiviral properties and is an immune strengthening agent. Drinking echinacea tea has been found to be effective in shortening the duration of cold and flu symptoms.

2 | Lemon

Lemons are packed with vitamin C. They’re also a natural antioxidant that enhances the immune system and lemons also have antiviral and antibacterial properties. Lemon juice has been reported to decrease the strength of the cold and flu virus in the body.

3 | Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper may relieve fever and lower your body temperature by stimulating sweat glands. Cayenne pepper can also help congestion by stimulating the mucous membranes of the nose and sinuses. Cayenne is also highly anti-inflammatory.

4 | Apple Cider Vinegar

The probiotics in apple cider vinegar can give your immune system a boost. Also, the acid in apple cider vinegar can thin out mucous in the throat. Apple cider vinegar is rich in the same nutrients that you would find in apples, too. Potassium, vitamin C, antioxidants, and vitamin E.

5 | Garlic

Garlic is a powerful antioxidant with antimicrobial, antiviral and antibacterial properties. Garlic also provides decongestant and expectorant effects.

6 | Honey

Not only does honey help this drink to go down a little easier, it also has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Research suggests that honey is an effective cough suppressant as well!

7 | Ginger

Ginger naturally combats nausea and vomiting. It is also anti-inflammatory and can help to ease digestion issues.

8 | Tumeric

Curcumin, the medicinal compound found in turmeric powder has powerful antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. It also has strong antiviral properties that have a direct effect on influenza infections.

Flu Bomb Recipe:


  •     1 Whole Lemon
  •     1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  •     1/4 tsp Cayenne Powder
  •     1 Minced Clove of Garlic
  •     2 tsp Raw Organic Honey
  •     1 tsp Grated Ginger
  •     1/2 tsp Tumeric Powder
  •      1 cup Echinacea Tea


Flu Bomb Directions:


  •     Brew one cup of echinacia tea
  •     Squeeze the lemon juice into cup
  •     Add all the remaining ingredients above
  •     Stir well
  •     Drink up!
